Juicy and Sweet Layers
Healthy apple cake is extremely low in calories. Additionally, it is so delicious, rich and juicy. The thin and sweet apple slices are layered in soft cake batter, which makes this cake very juicy and sweet. Moreover, the cake consists of a lot of apples, which makes it very low in calories and naturally sweet. A little bit of maple syrup is added to underline the sweetness, and your perfect afternoon snack is ready! Finally, the last touch that makes it incredibly tasty and sweet is the crust. It is firm and sugary and comes on top of juicy and sweet apple layers, creating a perfect combination.
Low-Calorie Crust
The crust consists of a little bit of sugar, which is enough to form a sugary crust and is totally fine to consume if you want to lose weight or reduce your sugar intake. However, if you want to go low sugar in your diet, it is recommended to do it step by step, include delicious snacks and take your time.

Ingredients
1200gapples
180gwhole wheat flour
60gmaple syrup
120goat milk
1tspcinnamon
½tspsalt
1tspbaking powder
4eggs
Apple cake crust
20gbutter
20gsugar
Instructions
Turn on the oven to reach 180C (or 355F) before you put a healthy apple cake inside.*
In a separate bowl add 4 eggs, 60 g maple syrup and whisk with a hand mixer until you reach a light, fluffy mixture. Add 120 g of oat milk and whisk again. Combine dry and liquid mixture.
Add 1200 g of peeled and thinly sliced apples* and pour everything into baking form.
To create a sugary crust cut 20 g of butter into thin pieces and spread it all over the cake. On top of it spread 20 g of sugar with a tablespoon, so almost all the cake is covered with a thin, sugary layer.* This will give a cake a top sugary crust with soft layers of apple under it. You can skip this step if you want your cake to have less calories and no refined sugar, but I would definitely recommend it, since it makes apple cake have a very special contrast taste.
Bake for 60 minutes at 180C or 355 F.
This healthy apple cake with all the ingredients above makes 10 pieces. It is low calorie (194 calories per piece), low fat (4g) and is simple and very fast to make.
*To ensure your cake has the perfect structure, it’s important to turn on the oven beforehand. This allows it to reach a temperature of 180C (or 355F) by the time you put the cake inside. Consequently, you should ensure that the oven is fully heated to this temperature before placing the cake inside. *If you want to achieve a tender, layered structure in your cake, it’s important to peel and slice the apples into thin pieces. This step is crucial in ensuring that the apples are evenly distributed throughout the batter. As a result, the cake will have a more delicate texture and a more pronounced apple flavor. *If you’re aiming for a firm crust on your healthy apple cake, it’s best to avoid substituting sugar with maple syrup or other liquid sweeteners. These alternatives may alter the texture of the cake, resulting in a less desirable outcome. Moreover, from my personal experience, I have found that using white sugar yields a better result than using brown sugar as a substitute.
