About This Recipe

Are you a sauce person?! I am 100% one of those people that need sauce on everything. I just can NOT eat my burger, sandwich, or fries DRY! Where is the yum in that?!

While I do love and need my sauce, I am also well aware of how calorie-laden most sauces and dressings are; some even more than the food itself! So needless to say, I have found my way-around with lower calorie versions of my favorite sauces – this Skinny Special Sauce being one of them!

Between this Healthy Special Sauce, my Skinny Chick-fil-a Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce, Skinny Yum Yum Sauce, and my Healthy Cilantro Lime Sauce, I think I have the essentials covered. 😂

This lightened up Special Sauce is great to eat with burgers, chicken, fries, you name it. I also enjoy making a thinner batch sometimes and using it as a dressing on top of a salad. Keep reading for some of favorite recipes to eat it with!

Why You’ll Love This Lightened Up Special Sauce

  • Total In-N-Out copycat – but lightened up!
  • Perfect sauce for everything – burgers, chicken, fries, you name it.
  • Just 30 calories per 2 tablespoons!
  • Prepped in 5 minutes – just throw all the ingredients in a food processor!
  • Seriously so good and tangy!

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Light Mayo – I used light mayonnaise, feel free to use any mayonnaise here.
  • Plain Greek yogurt – you can replace with sour cream or more mayo.
  • Ketchup – I used sugar-free ketchup but any ketchup works!
  • Yellow mustard – the prepared kind (not the powdered)
  • Pickles – pickle relish or normal dill pickles, any type of pickles work here so use whatever you have on hand!
  • Onion – I used a white onion but red or yellow would work too.
  • Spices – paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt.
  • Sweetener – just a touch, trust me on this, it balances everything out! But be careful not to over do it. I like using liquid stevia because it blends the best with the sauce but you can use any sugar or any granular sweetener you have on hand too.
  • Milk – I used unsweetened almond milk but any PLAIN (not sweetened) milk will work.

How To Make

  1. Add all ingredients to a small food processor or blender and pulse/blend to combine. Taste and add more sugar, salt or seasoning to taste. Add more milk for a thinner consistency.
  2. Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving. Best when refrigerated for 24 hours. Keep stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

FAQ: Low Calorie Special Sauce

How long does this special sauce last?

This sauce will last up to one week in an airtight container in the fridge (as long as the greek yogurt is still good). Just be sure to give it a good stir before serving to recombine ingredients if they have begun to settle.

Can I make this sauce vegan?

Yes! To make this special sauce vegan, use dairy-free Greek yogurt, vegan mayo and dairy-free milk.

Is this copycat In-N-Out sauce healthy?

This low calorie special sauce is much lighter than the traditional In-N-Out sauce. One serving of the original sauce has 80 calories compared to the 30 calories in this lightened up version. Plus, you can have it on hand any time, no trip to In-N-Out necessary!
